Matt Jaskol clinches Rookie of the Year with one race to go

Matt Jaskol has secured, last weekend at Orange Speedway, the Rookie of the Year title in the ASA Speed Trucks Series with his third place in the race. The young driver also leads the overall points count, going into the last race of the season, in the I-10 Speedway in Blithe, CA, on October 29.

"After the finish, the team and I were not sure if I had clinched it, so we had a few moments of tension as the numbers were calculated. But we did it and I am very happy. It was a tough year to be a rookie in ASA Speed Trucks, with 3 rookies running in the top three in points the whole time, and the defending champion in fourth. It means a lot to me to lock up the rookie title with one race to go, over these guys. Now I have to stay focused for one more race to win the overall championship."

Matt has been racing the ASA Speed Trucks Championship this season full-time, as well as competing in karts where he finished 6th in the '05 Stars of Karting ICC-Shifter class having competed in only a few events, racing twice in the Star Mazda series (two podiums, Sebring and Road Atlanta), taking part in Jack Roush's Gong Show with a NCTS truck, and testing the 550hp open-wheel A1GP car for Team USA in Paul Ricard, France, late August.

The busy Las Vegas resident will finish his ASA Season in October, but still intends to take part in a few endurance races before the year is over.
